About the Safety
Net Consortium
The
Safety Net Consortium of Middle Tennessee is a
not-for-profit 501(c)3 corporation formed to address the
needs of the uninsured residents of Middle Tennessee.
Saint Thomas Health Services Fund serves as the legal
and fiduciary agent to the Consortium. The Consortium is
governed by a Board of Directors comprised of health
care providers and consumer organization members that
serve the poor and uninsured. The Consortium is guided
by the following vision and mission:
Vision:
A
community that fosters optimum health with a sustained
and compassionate system of care for all residents
including those without adequate insurance.
Mission:
To provide timely access
to healthcare to those without adequate insurance in
Davidson County through care coordination, patient
advocacy, community planning, and research.
Presently the Consortium operates the Bridges to Care
and Bridges to Care Plus programs that link uninsured
Nashville residents to medical services. Metro Public
Health Department serves as the managing partner.
Bridges to Care has linked more than 46,000 Nashville
residents to health care services since its inception in
February 2002 and provided more than 182,000
prescriptions.
