The Safety Net Consortium of Middle Tennessee is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 corporation formed to address the needs of the uninsured residents of Middle Tennessee. Saint Thomas Health Services Fund serves as the legal and fiduciary agent to the Consortium. The Consortium is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of health care providers and consumer organization members that serve the poor and uninsured. The Consortium is guided by the following vision and mission:

Mission: To provide timely access to healthcare to those without adequate insurance in Davidson County through care coordination, patient advocacy, community planning, and research.

Presently the Consortium operates the Bridges to Care and Bridges to Care Plus programs that link uninsured Nashville residents to medical services. Metro Public Health Department serves as the managing partner. Bridges to Care has linked more than 46,000 Nashville residents to health care services since its inception in February 2002 and provided more than 182,000 prescriptions.
